Phoenix Force
Description
The Phoenix Force is a Marvel Comics cosmic entity created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum. It first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #101 (1976) during the storyline in which Jean Grey piloted a space shuttle through a solar flare and emerged transformed.
The Phoenix Force is one of the oldest and most powerful entities in the Marvel Universe, representing the sum of all life that has existed, exists, or will ever exist. It is the nexus of all psionic energy across the multiverse. When bonded to a host, typically a being with immense psychic potential, it grants virtually unlimited power over matter, energy, and thought.
Its most famous host is Jean Grey, whose corruption by the Hellfire Club's Mastermind led to the Dark Phoenix Saga (Uncanny X-Men #129-138), one of the most acclaimed storylines in comic book history. The Phoenix Force has also bonded with Rachel Summers, the teenage Hope Summers, and been fractured among the "Phoenix Five" during the Avengers vs. X-Men event.
The entity's cycle of death and rebirth mirrors the mythological phoenix. It can consume stars, destroy and recreate worlds, and reshape reality on a cosmic scale.
