Marvel's "non-team" brings together powerful heroes who prefer working alone. Originally Doctor Strange, Hulk, Namor, and Silver Surfer, the Defenders tackle mystical and world-ending threats too dangerous for conventional teams. Unlike the structured Avengers, the Defenders assemble only when absolutely necessary, their loose alliance defined by circumstances rather than charters or membership cards.
