Black Cat
Description
Felicia Hardy, known as Black Cat, is a Marvel Comics character created by Marv Wolfman and Dave Cockrum. She first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 (1979).
Felicia is a cat burglar and the daughter of Walter Hardy, a renowned thief whose career inspired her to follow in his footsteps. She trained extensively in acrobatics, martial arts, and stealth to become one of the most skilled thieves in the Marvel Universe. She initially used a "bad luck" gimmick, surrounding herself with traps and coincidences to make it seem like she had probability-altering powers. She later gained genuine bad luck powers through the Kingpin, which inadvertently affected those closest to her.
Black Cat's relationship with Spider-Man is her most defining trait. She was genuinely attracted to Spider-Man but initially had no interest in Peter Parker, creating tension when his secret identity was revealed. Their on-and-off romance has been a recurring thread across decades of Spider-Man comics. Felicia has operated as both a criminal and a hero at various points, and has headlined multiple solo series.
