Guardian

Guardian is a DC Comics superhero created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, first appearing in Star-Spangled Comics #7 (April 1942). James Jacob Harper was a Metropolis police officer who became a costumed vigilante to fight criminals beyond the reach of the law, armed with a distinctive golden bulletproof shield. A mentor to the young Newsboy Legion, he was active during the Golden Age and his legacy continued through clones created by Project Cadmus and later successors who took up the Guardian identity.
