Soundwave is the communications officer of the Decepticons in the Transformers franchise, first appearing in Marvel Comics' Transformers #1 in 1984. A loyal and calculating servant of Megatron, he transforms into a tape deck and deploys cassette-sized Decepticon operatives from his chest compartment. He has appeared across every major Transformers comics continuity and is one of the most recognizable Decepticons in the franchise.
