Doomsday is a DC Comics supervillain created by Dan Jurgens, first appearing in Superman: The Man of Steel #18 (1992). A genetically engineered being from prehistoric Krypton, he was forged through a brutal cycle of death and resurrection in the planet's hostile environment, evolving into a nearly indestructible engine of destruction. His most distinctive trait is the ability to adapt after each defeat, making it impossible to harm him the same way twice. He is best known as the villain who killed Superman in the 1992 storyline The Death of Superman.
