Rachel Summers
Description
Rachel Summers is a Marvel Comics mutant superhero created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. She first appeared in the "Days of Future Past" storyline in Uncanny X-Men #141 (1981).
Rachel is the daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey from an alternate dystopian future (Earth-811) where Sentinels rule North America and mutants are hunted, imprisoned, or killed. In that timeline she was captured and psychically conditioned by the villain Ahab to serve as a "hound," using her telepathic powers to track down other mutants for the authorities.
After escaping to the present-day Marvel Universe, Rachel joined the X-Men and inherited a connection to the Phoenix Force from her mother. She has used the codenames Phoenix, Marvel Girl, and Prestige at various points in her career. She was also a founding member of the British superhero team Excalibur alongside Captain Britain, Meggan, Nightcrawler, and Kitty Pryde.
Rachel possesses Omega-level telepathic and telekinetic abilities, amplified by her bond with the Phoenix Force. Her complicated history across timelines and identities has made her one of the more layered characters in the X-Men franchise.
