Black Tom Cassidy is an Irish mutant villain in the Marvel universe, first appearing in Uncanny X-Men #101 in 1976. His mutation allows him to channel destructive energy blasts through wood, and he has been a persistent adversary of the X-Men, most often in partnership with his longtime ally the Juggernaut. He is the cousin of the X-Man Banshee, a connection that has driven several storylines pitting family members against one another.
