Wildcat
Description
Wildcat is a DC Comics superhero created by Bill Finger and Irwin Hasen. He first appeared in Sensation Comics #1 (1942) as one of the Golden Age's most enduring street-level heroes.
Ted Grant is a heavyweight boxing champion who was framed for the death of an opponent in the ring. To clear his name, he adopted the costumed identity of Wildcat and pursued the criminals responsible. After proving his innocence, he continued fighting crime using nothing but his fists, athletic ability, and sheer toughness.
Wildcat has no superpowers beyond peak human conditioning and exceptional boxing skill. He is a founding member of the Justice Society of America and has trained many of DC's greatest fighters, including Batman, Black Canary, and Catwoman. His nine lives (a mystical gift that has allowed him to survive otherwise fatal injuries) are his only supernatural attribute.
Despite his advanced age, Ted Grant remains active as both a hero and a mentor. He represents the JSA's connection to the raw, unglamorous side of crime-fighting, a man who relies on courage and skill rather than powers or technology.
