Description

General Amos T. Halftrack is the commanding officer of Camp Swampy in Mort Walker's military comic strip Beetle Bailey, introduced in 1951. He is depicted as an ineffectual and easily distracted commander who prefers golf to his duties and is frequently oblivious to the disorder around him. Halftrack has grown into one of the strip's central figures alongside the perpetually shirking private whose name the strip bears.
