Rip Kirby

Rip Kirby is a private detective and the central character of the long-running newspaper comic strip launched by Alex Raymond in 1946. A former Marine who returned from World War II to pursue a career as a private investigator, Kirby distinguishes himself from pulp detective conventions by relying on scientific reasoning and careful observation over brute force. Intellectual and pipe-smoking, he is frequently accompanied by his girlfriend, model Honey Dorian. The strip ran for over five decades under multiple artists before ending in 1999.
