Description

Barney Bear is an anthropomorphic bear created for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer by director Rudolf Ising, first appearing in the 1939 short The Bear That Couldn't Sleep. A good-natured but perpetually sleepy bear who wants nothing more than peace and quiet, he rarely finds it. Barney moved into comic books in 1942, with early stories by Carl Barks appearing in Our Gang Comics and later in Dell's Tom and Jerry Comics.
