Sylvester P. Smythe is the official mascot of Cracked magazine, the long-running American humor publication. He debuted on the cover of Cracked's first issue in 1958 and appeared throughout its history as a gentle, good-natured janitor in white overalls and a painter's cap. Originally a background character, he grew into a recurring figure with his own stories. His full middle name, Phooey, was chosen by a reader contest in 1998.
