Hercule
Description
Hercule is a French comics character created by Jose Cabrero Arnal, first appearing in the pages of L'Humanite in 1950 as the feline counterpart to the dog Pif.
Hercule is a black-and-white cat who shares a complicated friendship with Pif. The two are nominally best friends but spend most of their time fighting, scheming against each other, and competing for food and comfort. Their relationship is the classic cat-and-dog rivalry filtered through French slapstick comedy.
Hercule appeared alongside Pif throughout the run of the children's magazine Vaillant and its successor Pif Gadget, which ran from 1969 to 1993 and briefly revived from 2004 to 2009. He was popular enough to receive his own spin-off publication, Super Hercule, which focused on jokes and gags. The duo was also adapted into an animated television series of 65 episodes in 1989.
