Blade (2002)
Published under Marvel's mature-readers MAX imprint, this six-issue limited series arrived in 2002 alongside the release of the Blade II film. Christopher Hinz writes the daywalker Eric Brooks as he tracks a savage new breed of predator known as the Tryks. Steve Pugh handles interior art, with painted covers by Tim Bradstreet.
Blade's hunt pulls him into conflict with the Seven, a secret society that polices the balance between vampires and the creatures that prey on them. A parallel thread follows an offer that could strip away his vampiric nature and make him fully human. The run leans into graphic horror and hardboiled noir, treating Blade as a lone operator rather than a team player.
