Description
This six-issue limited series by writer Geoff Johns and artist Ethan Van Sciver ran from 2004 to 2005 and returned Hal Jordan to the role of Green Lantern. Years after Jordan fell to madness, destroyed the Corps, and died as the villain Parallax, the series reveals that Parallax was not insanity but an ancient cosmic embodiment of fear that had possessed him. As Kyle Rayner's ring warns that 'Parallax is coming,' Jordan's former allies including John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kilowog, and the Justice League are drawn into a struggle to free his soul from both Parallax and the Spectre. The story restores the Guardians of the Universe and the Green Lantern Corps, brings back Sinestro as a central threat, and lays the groundwork for the emotional spectrum that would define the franchise for years. It launched Geoff Johns' decade-long run on the character and rebuilt the Green Lantern mythology.
