Lee Falk introduced Lothar in the first Mandrake the Magician story in 1934, as Mandrake's closest friend and partner. Prince of the Seven Nations, he left his throne to fight crime instead, and his strength is enormous. Written first as a sidekick, he became an equal over the decades.
