Devil is the Phantom's loyal mountain wolf companion in the comic strip created by Lee Falk. He has appeared alongside the Phantom since the earliest days of the strip, which debuted in 1936.
Devil is a grey mountain wolf and one of the Phantom's two constant animal companions, along with the white horse Hero. He accompanies the Phantom into close-quarters situations, able to follow his master into places a horse cannot reach. He is fiercely protective and has aided the Phantom in countless confrontations with criminals and villains.
Devil is a fixture of the Phantom's world in both the daily newspaper strip and the extensive international comic book publishing that has kept the character in print for decades, particularly in Scandinavian and Australian markets.
