Droopy is an anthropomorphic basset hound created by Tex Avery for MGM, debuting in the 1943 cartoon Dumb-Hounded. Slow-moving and monotone in speech, he outsmarts larger, aggressive foes through cleverness and calm. He was known as Happy Hound in his earliest comic appearances in Our Gang Comics.
