Sheldon Moldoff (1920-2012) was an American comic book artist born in New York. His first published work appeared in Action Comics #1 (June 1938), the same landmark issue that introduced Superman. During the Golden Age, he became a prolific cover artist for DC Comics, painting the first cover featuring the Golden Age Green Lantern in All-American Comics #16 (1940) and drawing early Hawkman and Hawkgirl stories.

From 1953 to 1967, Moldoff was one of Bob Kane's primary ghost artists on Batman, drawing stories credited to Kane under a secret handshake agreement. Working with various writers, Moldoff co-created numerous Batman characters including Batwoman, Bat-Mite, Ace the Bat-Hound, Calendar Man, Mr. Freeze, the original Bat-Girl, Poison Ivy, and the second Clayface. He was let go by DC in 1967 along with other creators who had demanded health and retirement benefits.
