American letterer, editor, and artist whose career spans several decades. He served as art director of Heavy Metal magazine from 1977 to 1984 before becoming a sought-after freelance letterer. He is best known for his long collaboration with Walter Simonson beginning with The Mighty Thor #337, and for lettering the complete run of Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol at DC Comics.
