1941 - 1954

DESCRIPTION

Overview

Captain America Comics (1941) debuted in a time of rising global conflict and introduced readers to a patriotic superhero who embodied American ideals. Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, the series launched with an iconic cover of Captain America punching Adolf Hitler—a bold political statement months before the U.S. officially entered World War II.

The series followed Steve Rogers, a scrawny recruit transformed into the super-soldier Captain America, and his young sidekick Bucky Barnes. Together, they battled Nazi agents, fifth columnists, and later, supervillains and mad scientists. The comic mixed war themes with science fiction and superhero action.
