Doom Patrol (1987)
Doom Patrol was an ongoing DC Comics series published from 1987 to 1995, running for 87 issues. The title had three distinct creative periods, each defined by a different writer.
Paul Kupperberg wrote the first 18 issues, establishing a new team roster that included Robotman, Celsius, Lodestone, and Joshua Clay within a traditional superhero framework. Grant Morrison took over with issue 19, introducing Crazy Jane, Rebis, and Dorothy Spinner while reshaping the book around surreal, avant-garde storytelling. Morrison's tenure lasted through issue 63.
Rachel Pollack wrote issues 64 through 87. Issue 64 was the first of the series to carry the Vertigo imprint banner. Pollack continued the experimental direction of the title and introduced characters including Coagula before the series was canceled in early 1995.
