World War 3: Raid on Tokyo (2022)

Motofumi Kobayashi, the combat manga creator behind Cat Shit One, delivers an alternate history war saga set in 1990s Japan. After the abolition of the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty, Soviet forces launch a multi-pronged invasion of the island nation. Under the pretense of a peace treaty, the occupiers push from landing grounds in Niigata toward Tokyo while the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, cut off from civilian government, resort to extrajudicial military action to survive.

Published by Antarctic Press across two volumes, the series presents Kobayashi's detailed black-and-white military artwork in a story that blends Cold War geopolitics with ground-level infantry combat.
