Black Hole (1995)
Charles Burns sets this horror series in mid-1970s suburban Seattle, where a strange sexually transmitted plague causes grotesque physical mutations among local teenagers. The infected are pushed to the fringes of their community while trying to hold onto ordinary adolescent life. Burns renders the body horror in stark, meticulous black-and-white linework that doubles as a metaphor for the disorientation of growing up.
