New X-Men (2001)

Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely reinvent Marvel's mutants for a new era, retitling the main book and keeping its numbering. After Sentinels wipe out the mutant nation of Genosha, the X-Men reframe themselves as the front line of a species fighting extinction. Morrison strips the team to Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Beast, and Emma Frost and turns the school into a sprawling academy.
