If you subscribed to VerseDB Pro through the App Store or Google Play and you're not seeing Pro features after reinstalling the app, switching devices, or signing into a different VerseDB account, you can restore your subscription from inside the app.
To restore#
- Open the VerseDB app.
- Go to Profile → Manage Subscription (or open the Pro upsell screen from any locked feature).
- Tap Restore Purchases at the bottom.
- The app contacts the App Store or Google Play, finds the subscription tied to your store account, and unlocks Pro on your current VerseDB account.
If Pro doesn't appear within a few seconds, pull down to refresh the screen.
When you'll see "Transfer Pro to this account?"#
If the App Store or Google Play account on your device has previously linked its subscription to a different VerseDB account, you'll see a confirmation dialog before anything changes. This protects against accidental transfers — for example, when a family member borrows your phone and taps Restore on their own VerseDB login.
The dialog shows a masked email of the account currently holding Pro (m••••@versedb.com) so you can recognize whether it's an old account of your own or someone else's.
- Tap Transfer Pro to move Pro to the account you're currently signed into. The previous account immediately loses Pro and receives a confirmation email.
- Tap Cancel to leave Pro on the original account. Sign into that account instead if you want access.
Your subscription billing, renewal date, and price do not change. The transfer only affects which VerseDB account unlocks Pro features — Apple or Google still charges the same store account.
Why one App Store / Google Play account can only unlock one VerseDB account#
To prevent a single paid subscription from being shared across unlimited free accounts, each App Store or Google Play subscription can be actively linked to one VerseDB account at a time. You can transfer it between your own accounts as often as you need, but it can only unlock Pro in one place.
I subscribed on iPhone but I'm now using Android (or vice versa)#
App Store and Google Play subscriptions are not transferable between platforms — this is an Apple/Google restriction, not a VerseDB one. You have two options:
- Keep your existing subscription and use Pro on both platforms. As long as you sign into the same VerseDB account on your new device, Pro unlocks there automatically — you don't need to repurchase. Pro follows your VerseDB account across iPhone, Android, and the web, even though the subscription itself is billed by Apple or Google.
- Cancel and resubscribe on the new platform. Cancel via the original store, wait for the current billing period to end, then subscribe again from the new device. There is no way to migrate the billing itself.
I subscribed on versedb.com (web), not on my phone#
Web subscriptions are billed through Stripe, not through Apple or Google. Restore Purchases on mobile only works for App Store / Google Play subscriptions — it can't restore a Stripe subscription, because Stripe has no concept of "device" or "store account."
If you subscribed on the web and Pro isn't showing in the mobile app, make sure you're signed into the same VerseDB account on your phone as you used on the website. Pro should appear within a few seconds of signing in.
To manage a Stripe subscription, go to versedb.com/subscription.
Promo codes and gift codes#
Promo codes are redeemed only on versedb.com, not in the mobile app. Apple and Google do not accept VerseDB promo codes through their own systems, and we can't add one to your subscription from inside the app. Redeem the code on the website; the resulting Pro access will appear on mobile once you're signed in.
