Update your payment method before your card expires, when you get a new card, or after a failed charge. Doing it proactively avoids service interruption.
How to Update#
- Go to versedb.com/subscription
- Find the Payment Method section and click Update Payment Method
- Enter card number, expiration, CVC, cardholder name, and billing ZIP
- Click Save Payment Method
Accepted cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, UnionPay. Not accepted: PayPal, crypto, ACH, checks. Prepaid cards may work but aren't guaranteed.
Updating doesn't reset your billing date and doesn't charge you immediately — you'll be charged on your regular cycle date.
Payments run through Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1). VerseDB only stores the last 4 digits, card brand, expiration, and billing ZIP — never the full card number or CVC.
Troubleshooting#
"Invalid card number" — double-check the number, remove spaces and dashes, confirm the card hasn't expired. Type it in rather than pasting.
"Payment method declined" — the cause is usually on the bank side:
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Insufficient funds | Check balance or use another card |
| Card expired | Enter a current card |
| Incorrect CVC | Back of card (front for Amex) |
| Incorrect billing ZIP | Must match the bank's records |
| International block | Contact bank to authorize international charges |
| Fraud protection | Call bank to approve the VerseDB/Stripe charge |
If the card itself looks fine, try a different browser, disable VPN, or use incognito mode to rule out extensions blocking the payment form.
"Card verification failed" — usually temporary. Wait 5–10 minutes and retry. Confirm the card is activated and supports online purchases.
