Brainiac

Brainiac is one of Superman's most enduring adversaries in DC Comics, first appearing in Action Comics #242 in 1958, created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. Originally depicted as an alien intelligence from the planet Colu, he is distinguished by a twelfth-level intellect and a compulsion to collect and preserve knowledge by shrinking entire cities. Multiple continuities have revised his origins and physical form, but he consistently appears as a cold, calculating threat capable of matching Superman through technology, telepathy, and superior strategic planning.
