Bambi is a young deer whose life in the forest, from birth through the loss of innocence, was first told in Felix Salten's 1922 novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods. Walt Disney adapted the story into the studio's classic 1942 animated film, and a newspaper comic strip based on the character launched the same year. The character remains one of animation's most enduring symbols of nature and coming of age.
