Oswald the Rabbit
CharacterDescription
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is a cartoon character created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks for Universal Pictures in 1927, predating Mickey Mouse as Disney's first major animated creation. A fast-moving, mischievous rabbit, he starred in theatrical short films from 1927 to 1938 before Disney lost control of the character in a 1928 contract dispute with Universal, an event that directly led to the creation of Mickey Mouse. The rights to Oswald reverted to Disney in 2006 in a deal with NBC Universal.
