The Amazing Spider-Man (1963) - Series

The Amazing Spider-Man (1963)

1963 - 1998

DESCRIPTION

The flagship Spider-Man series that launched in March 1963, created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. The series chronicled Spider-Man's career as a masked vigilante alongside his civilian life as teenager Peter Parker. By focusing on Parker's everyday problems, Lee and Ditko created a groundbreakingly flawed, self-doubting superhero - the first major teenaged hero to be a protagonist rather than a sidekick. The series introduced iconic villains including the Vulture, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Lizard, Electro, Mysterio, and Green Goblin, while exploring Peter's relationships with Aunt May, J. Jonah Jameson, and love interests like Betty Brant and Gwen Stacy. The series ran for 441 issues through 1998, featuring legendary creative runs by John Romita Sr., Gerry Conway, Roger Stern, Tom DeFalco, and Todd McFarlane among others.
