Omnibus FAQ
- What is the difference between a TPB and an omnibus?
- Length and binding. A trade paperback collects one arc, roughly four to six issues, in softcover. An omnibus collects several hundred pages in hardcover, often an entire creative run.
- Do omnibus volumes stay in print?
- Not reliably. Publishers reprint the popular ones, but out-of-print volumes often sell well above cover price on the secondary market.
- Why is an omnibus filed as a series rather than an issue?
- Because omnibus lines are numbered like a run. Filing them as a series keeps volume 1 and volume 2 together, each with its own cover, page count, and release date.
