Every contribution helps make VerseDB the most comprehensive comic book database available.

How It Works

  1. Submit an Edit - Find incorrect or missing information on any content page and submit a proposed change
  2. Review Process - Your submission goes to moderators for review. They check for accuracy, proper sourcing, and formatting
  3. Earn XP - When your edit is approved, you earn XP based on the field edited. Bonus XP is awarded for first edits and new categories
  4. Level Up - Accumulate XP to reach higher levels and build your contributor reputation

What Can You Edit?

Content Types

  • Characters: Names, powers, abilities, backstories, relationships
  • Series: Descriptions, publication details, creators
  • Issues: Release dates, prices, creators, story arcs

  • Story Arcs: Descriptions, related issues and characters

Getting Started

Your First Edit

  1. Browse to any content page (character, series, issue, etc.)
  2. Look for the Edit button or field-specific edit icons
  3. Make your proposed change
  4. Submit for review
  5. Earn XP when approved!
Tip
Start with simple edits like typos and formatting fixes. These are easy to approve and help you learn how the system works.

Content Locking System

To prevent conflicts, VerseDB locks content while someone is editing:

  • Editing locks: Short-term locks during active editing
  • Submission locks: Longer locks during the review process
  • Automatic cleanup: Expired locks are released automatically

If content is locked, you'll see a message indicating who is editing and when the lock expires.
