Life with Archie (1958)

Life with Archie is a humor anthology starring Archie Andrews and the Riverdale gang, published by Archie Comics from 1958 to 1991 across 286 issues. Rather than the four short gags of the flagship Archie title, this book gave writer Frank Doyle and artist Bob White room to build one or two longer stories per issue.

Early issues rebranded as Archie Adventure Series and sent the gang on globe-trotting missions and monster hunts instead of pure high school comedy. That adventurous streak produced the title's two best remembered recurring features: Archie transforming into the superhero spoof Pureheart the Powerful starting with issue #42, and the spy parody The Man from R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. that ran from issue #45 through #63.

Mr. Weatherbee, Miss Grundy, and the rest of the Riverdale High faculty anchor the more grounded school stories that fill out the run. Each issue typically collects several complete stories rather than one continuing plot, a format the series kept for its entire three-decade history.
