Black Beacon (2021)

Black Beacon is a six issue science fiction limited series from Heavy Metal, written by Ryan K Lindsay with art by Sebastian Piriz. It first appeared as serialized chapters in Heavy Metal Magazine before its release as standalone issues.

The story unfolds on a Dyson sphere built on the far side of the universe, a structure larger than a solar system. A signal known as the Black Beacon has called countless species across the stars, promising connection and a place to belong. What they find instead is an overcrowded, lawless refuge where survival is the only currency.

Niko, a human historian, arrives late and without a place reserved for her. She falls in with Bar, one of the weary lawkeepers who patrol the sphere, as they try to understand who built the beacon and why. The result pairs vast cosmic scale with an intimate look at trust, belonging, and exploitation.
