Every tier is fully customizable — names, colors, order, and count. Defaults are S, A, B, C, D, F but nothing's fixed.
What You Can Change#
- Rename — click the tier name and type a new one
- Recolor — click the color swatch and pick a hex color, or paste one in
- Add — click Add Tier (up to 8 total)
- Remove — click the trash icon (minimum 2 tiers; items in the removed tier are deleted along with it — move them first if you want to keep them)
- Reorder — drag a tier up or down by its handle; items move with it
Alternative naming schemes:
- Descriptive: Must Read, Great, Solid, Okay, Pass, Avoid
- Funny: Chef's Kiss, Pretty Good, It's Okay, Yikes, Burn It
- Numerical: 10/10, 9/10, 8/10, 7/10, 6/10, Below 6
Picking Good Colors#
Use high-contrast colors so tiers read at a glance. A few guidelines:
- Brighter/warmer for higher tiers, cooler/duller for lower (by convention)
- Avoid near-duplicate colors like
#FF0000and#FF1111 - Consider colorblind-friendly palettes — don't rely on red vs green alone
- Make sure text stays readable on the tier's background color
Common mistakes: too many tiers for too few items (use 3–4 for quick rankings, 5–6 is standard), confusing names like "Mid-High-Tier", or unreadable text color combinations.
