Betty Cooper

Betty Cooper is an Archie Comics character created by John L. Goldwater, Bob Montana, and Vic Bloom. She first appeared in Pep Comics #22 (1941) alongside Archie Andrews and has been a core member of the Riverdale cast ever since.

Betty is the girl-next-door of Riverdale, known for her kindness, athleticism, and wide range of talents. She competes with the wealthy Veronica Lodge for Archie's attention in a love triangle that has been the central romantic thread of the franchise for decades. Despite the rivalry, Betty and Veronica maintain a close friendship.

She has starred in numerous solo series and co-headlined the long-running Betty and Veronica title. The character has been adapted across multiple tones, from classic teen comedy to the grittier reimagining in the 2015 Archie relaunch by Mark Waid and the Archie Horror imprint. Betty is consistently portrayed as one of the most capable and well-rounded members of the Riverdale gang.
