The series finale. Norman Osborn, revealed to have received madness rather than power from the Gathering of Five, attacks the Daily Bugle as the Green Goblin with delusions of having killed Spider-Man. When a pumpkin bomb brings the building down, Spider-Man holds the structure up alone until everyone inside escapes. Osborn is found raving in a straitjacket and taken away by the Cabal of Scriers, the 98-issue run ending with Peter Parker's status quo stripped down for the relaunch. Written by Howard Mackie, art by John Romita Jr. and John Byrne.
