Batman (1940)
Description
The original Batman ongoing series and one of the longest-running comics in American history. Launched in 1940 as a quarterly companion to Detective Comics, this title chronicled the Dark Knight's adventures for over seven decades.
The series introduced the Joker and Catwoman in its first issue, and later debuted characters like Batgirl and Killer Croc. Notable runs include Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams' 1970s reinvention, Frank Miller's "Year One," Jim Starlin's "A Death in the Family," and Grant Morrison's extended run.
The series ended with issue #713 in 2011 as part of DC's New 52 relaunch.
