Shade, the Changing Man placed Rac Shade, an alien from the planet Meta, in the body of an executed serial killer in contemporary America. Written by Peter Milligan with art by Chris Bachalo, the series ran 70 issues from 1990 to 1996, with its final 37 issues published under the Vertigo imprint. The title examined identity, obsession, and American culture through a surrealist lens.
