This one-shot is a 2026 Image Comics facsimile reprint of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #24, first published by Marvel in 1984. Larry Hama wrote the original issue, with interior art by Russ Heath and a cover by Mike Zeck and John Beatty.
The reprinted story, The Commander Escapes, finds the Joes guarding a captured Cobra Commander at a remote mountain outpost while Cobra's leaders plot to reclaim him. The issue carries early appearances of Cobra operatives Firefly and Wild Weasel.
Released under the Hama Files banner, this edition returns an early chapter of Larry Hama's long-running run to print.
