Comic Book Hardcovers

A hardcover collects issues in a bound edition, often as the first printing of a collection released ahead of the softcover trade. Publishers use it for prestige runs, deluxe editions, and complete limited series. VerseDB catalogs hardcovers as their own series, separate from the monthly issues they reprint, with their volume lists, page counts, covers, and release dates.

Hardcover FAQ

Does a hardcover collect more than a trade paperback?
Not necessarily. Many hardcovers collect the same issues and simply ship first in a more durable edition. Deluxe hardcovers usually do collect more.
What is the difference between a hardcover and an omnibus?
An omnibus is a hardcover, just a far larger one — typically several hundred pages spanning multiple arcs or years of a title.
Why is the hardcover a separate series?
Because it is a separate publication with its own release date, page count, and cover. Tracking it apart lets you record the edition you actually own.
