Jiminy Cricket

Jiminy Cricket is a Disney character who originated in the 1940 animated film Pinocchio, adapted from Carlo Collodi's 1883 story. Appointed by the Blue Fairy to serve as Pinocchio's official conscience, he guides the wooden puppet through temptation and danger. Designed by animator Ward Kimball, the character transformed Collodi's minor Talking Cricket into a wisecracking and warm-hearted lead. He is best known for performing When You Wish Upon a Star and has appeared across Disney comics since the 1940s.
