Description
Malebolgia is the demonic overlord of the Eighth Circle of Hell and the central antagonist of the early Spawn comics, created by Todd McFarlane for Image Comics. His name derives from the Malebolge, the sculpted landscape of the Eighth Circle in Dante's Inferno, which he has ruled for millennia. He orchestrated the deal that transformed Al Simmons into the Hellspawn known as Spawn, pursuing a long-standing goal of raising an army of Hellspawns to storm Heaven and claim Earth as his domain.
