Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker is a Star Wars character created by George Lucas. He first appeared in the 1977 film Star Wars and has been a major presence in comics since Marvel's original Star Wars adaptation that same year.

Luke is a farm boy from the desert planet Tatooine who discovers he is the son of the fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader). Trained in the ways of the Force by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, he becomes the catalyst for the downfall of the Galactic Empire and the redemption of his father.

In comics, Luke has appeared extensively in titles from both Marvel and Dark Horse Comics. Marvel's original Star Wars series (1977-1986) ran for 107 issues, with Luke as the central character. Modern Marvel Star Wars comics have explored the periods between the original trilogy films, depicting Luke's self-taught Jedi training and his discovery of his father's true identity. He is one of the most frequently appearing characters in the Star Wars comics line.
