Mr. Hyde is a Marvel Comics villain whose civilian identity is Calvin Zabo, a scientist obsessed with Robert Louis Stevenson's novella who developed a formula granting himself superhuman strength and an aggressive alternate personality. He first appeared in Journey into Mystery #99 in 1964 as an antagonist of Thor and has since battled numerous Marvel heroes. The character name and dual-personality premise are loosely drawn from Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
