Two-Face

Two-Face is a DC Comics supervillain created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. He first appeared in Detective Comics #66 (1942) as one of Batman's most psychologically complex adversaries.

Harvey Dent was Gotham City's district attorney and one of Batman's closest allies in the fight against organized crime. After a mobster threw acid on the left side of his face during a trial, the disfigurement shattered Dent's psyche, splitting his personality between the righteous prosecutor he had been and a violent criminal obsessed with duality and chance.

Two-Face makes all his decisions by flipping a scarred two-headed coin, one side clean and the other defaced. If the clean side lands up, he acts mercifully. If the scarred side shows, he acts with cruelty. This dependence on random chance makes him unpredictable and dangerous even by Gotham's standards.

The character is often portrayed as a tragic figure, with Batman holding out hope that Harvey Dent can be rehabilitated. His fall from justice to criminality mirrors the broader themes of corruption and moral decay that define Gotham City.
