Gladstone Gander

Gladstone Gander is a Disney comics character created by Carl Barks. He first appeared in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #88 (1948) as Donald Duck's insufferably lucky cousin.

Gladstone is defined by his supernatural good luck, which allows him to stumble into money, prizes, and good fortune without any effort. He never works, relying entirely on his luck to provide for him. This makes him a natural foil to Donald Duck, whose life is characterized by hard work and constant bad luck. Their rivalry, particularly for the attention of Daisy Duck, is a recurring thread in Duckburg stories.

Despite his arrogance and laziness, Gladstone's luck occasionally fails him, usually when it would be most dramatically satisfying. He remains one of the most recognizable members of the Duckburg supporting cast and has appeared in thousands of Disney comics published worldwide.
