Description

Sunflower is a centaurette character who appeared in The Pastoral Symphony segment of Disney's 1940 animated concert film Fantasia. A young Black centaurette, she was depicted in a subservient role assisting the other centaurettes as they prepared to meet the centaurs. The character became the subject of controversy over racial stereotyping, and Disney removed all scenes featuring her from subsequent theatrical and home video re-releases of the film beginning in 1969.
